Stephanie Philp

Stephanie is currently a science communicator at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) where she facilities the mobilization of research produced at SickKids Research Institute. Previously, she was the editor of PAX International magazine and taught in the Undergraduate Writing Program at Columbia University.

In New York, while completing her MFA in nonfiction writing and literary translation, Stephanie worked as a Public Programs and Engagement fellow for Columbia’s Lenfest Center for the Arts, was the online translation editor for the Columbia Journal and also oversaw volunteers (in addition to volunteering herself) as a site coordinator for Columbia Artist/ Teachers (CA/T).

Before leaving Canada, Stephanie was an intern with the National Magazine Awards Foundation. There, she wrote for the Magazine Awards and Digital Publishing Awards blogs. As the former Editorial Assistant at Precedent magazine, she covered the crazy vacations lawyers take, wrote a millennial’s guide to faxing, and told the story of the graphic novel adaptation of the iTunes Terms and Conditions contract.

Stephanie has Bachelor of Journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University, and, in 2016, was the Production Editor for the Review of Journalism and an assistant reporter to Robert Cribb at the Toronto Star. She also co-hosted and live-tweeted for the International Issues Discussion series.

In her free time, you’ll find her in a basement somewhere doing improv or on her bike (even in December).
